Rejection Reflection

Have you felt the sting of rejection? Most of us have and would likely agree that it is not the best feeling or experience.

Rejection comes in many forms and from many sources: a boss, a spouse, a friend, or you may even reject yourself.

Sadly, when rejection occurs in the lives of many of us, we can start to believe that we are a "reject".

Our view of ourselves becomes distorted and no longer reflects who God says we are, "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14).

An effective way to handle rejection is to remember that we are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26) and that His love for us is unconditional.

We can then delve deep into God's word and discover that our worth and identity are found in Christ Jesus and are not determined by this fallen world.

Sometimes we harbor resentment towards the one who has wronged us. This resentment is a foothold for the devil and it needs to be removed. We do so by forgiving that person (Matthew 6:14).

When we forgive those who have hurt us, we open ourselves up to receive God's forgiveness and mercy in our lives (Matthew 6:15).

The next time you experience the sting of rejection, remember that your value and worth are not determined by the world and you do not need its approval because God, our Heavenly Father, has already found you worthy and of great value.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
—Ephesians 1:3-6 NKJV
