Survival of the Fittest

This is the time of year everyone is getting on the fitness band-wagon. Well, there is physical fitness and there is spiritual fitness. Both are important. We need to find balance in both and not get swayed by worldliness or the flesh and focus solely on the physical.

Paul wrote: "For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come" (1Timothy 4:8)

So spiritually, we need to focus on the things of the Lord. While we are doing the recommened 30 - 60 minutes of daily exercise, we can accomplish this. We can memorize scripture, listen to Christian music, pray, sing hymns and praise the Lord for all he has done and is doing in our lives. As we do what we need to increase our physical health we can give God the glory He so rightly deserves as we use that time to focus our attention on him.

We can break our workouts into 10 minute segments throughout our day and that way, we are focusing on God more AND getting healthier so go ahead - work on your fitness!
