Eggnog with Jesus

For many of us, this Christmas season will be filled with shopping, cooking meals, baking, trimming the tree, sending cards, wrapping presents, visiting with family and friends, decorating the house, etc.

But what about Jesus? When does He come into your plans? All of us can make it a point to put Him at the forefront of this very special time of year by returning the focus to where it rightly belongs.

To put Jesus first we can incorporate some of the following suggestions:

  1. Eggnog with Jesus, quite time spent telling Him how much you love Him.
  2. Set a place of honor for Him at the table.
  3. Put a special gift under the tree just for Him, inside could be the sponsorship of a child oversees.
  4. Trim the tree with a special ornament such as a manager or star and tell the story of His birth.
  5. Sing carols that honor Him such as "Hark the Herald," "What Child is this?" etc.
  6. For families with young children, have them make Him a special ornament or Christmas card.

Most of all this Christmas, we can be true celebrators of Christ by sharing the most precious gift He gave for all; the gift of salvation. May we be purposeful about sharing the good news to all of those with whom we come into contact, neighbors, store clerks, and even the carolers that grace our doorstep, for truly this is the reason we as Christians can celebrate this and every Christmas season. Merry Christmas!
