Open For Cleaning

Don't you love coming home to a clean house? No dishes in the sink, no mess in the bathroom, living room picked up, even that closet where you hide everything is clean and organized. God wants to do that same kind of house cleaning in us.

When we come to Christ we offer our lives to Him, but have we given Him all the "keys" to the rooms of our heart and mind? Often, there is that locked room hiding old pain, sin or resentment, and we haven't allowed Christ access, we think we are hiding these things from Him. God is omniscient (all knowing), so we really can't hide anything from Him.

God desires that we are pure in our being.

Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. (Psalms 51:6 KJV)

Many of us could give a list of seemingly good reasons for not giving Him the keys.

Fear of rejection: The sin is too great; God will not forgive me.
Fear of more pain: Will I have to relive the pain all over again?
Fear of the unknown:
If I let go of this, with what will God replace it?

No matter the fear or reason, the answer is always the same; we must trust in God's love and goodness.

When we trust God with the keys to these locked rooms, He will clean and restore as only He can.

Application: In a time of prayer let God search your heart.

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts. (Psalms 139:23 KJV)
