Today's Media: Anything But Pure and Lovely

Teens are viewing an average of 16-17 hours each week of television.

* 99% of American homes have one TV
* 66% have 3+, with one kept in a child's room

In today's media crazed age, we are facing what some are calling a media attack on our kids.

¹Advertisers see the dollar potential in targeting our kids who are carrying more than $128 billion dollars in their pockets; and what these advertisers are pushing is a diet of sexual content, violence and obscenities.

"...whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely... think on these things." - Philippians 4:8 KJV

A Barna Research report states, "The average congregant spends more time watching TV in one day than he spends in all spiritual pursuits combined for an entire week."

Our children need us to set the example, to be proactive in their lives and teach them the things of God.

Psalms 119:9-11 says the way to keep one pure is by hiding the Word of God in our heart. We need to redirect our children's focus from that of the world and onto their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, providing them the tools they need to stand firm in their faith and develop a strong biblical worldview.

Start today by limiting the access the media has to their hearts and minds by limiting their TV viewing.

Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity, And quicken me in thy ways. - Psalms 119:37 KJV
