TUNE IN

"Hear I Am Lord" is a moving song of God's love and call for action in the lives of believers. In the chorus are two particularly powerful verses, Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night.
These two verses immediately bring to mind the voice of the Lord calling for Samuel and Samuel's quick reply.
That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I. 1 Samuel 3:4 KJV

If God called to you or me, would we be able to hear Him or would we find our lives so filled with worldly noise that we‘d discover that we couldn't possibly hear the still small voice of the Lord. (1 Kings 19:12)

Many of us who find ourselves not tuned-in, will need to turn off the noise of this world and start listening to the whisper of the Spirit by giving God our undivided attention.

Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10a KJV

We need to take this time-out not just for ourselves, but also to emulate what Jesus demonstrated for us. In spite of His incredibly busy life, Jesus held to the discipline of prayer.

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. Mark 1:35 KJV

By having a consistent prayer life we will come to know God's still small voice and the next time He calls, we will be able to recognize Him and have a heart prepared to say, "Here I am Lord!"

Apply It: Create a prayer plan to help you unplug from the world and tune in to God. Develop the discipline of prayer today.

Pray without ceasing.
1Thessalonias 5:17 KJV
