Fanny Jane Crosby, Notable Christian Woman

NOTABLE CHRISTIAN WOMEN
FRANCES "FANNY" JANE CROSBY
1820-1915

Fanny J. Crosby penned over 9,000 hymns during her lifetime. Two of her most memorable are "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Blessed Assurance."

At six weeks old she lost her sight, but our Lord gave her the gift of writing. She wrote her first verse at the age of eight. It begins:
"Oh, what a happy soul I am, / Although I cannot see! / I am resolved that in this world / Contented I will be."

What inspiration! May we all be like Fanny and endeavor to see the positive in our lives and use our God-given gifts not only to bless others, but more importantly to bring glory to God.
